Frankena Dabbs, a 20 year old mother, was put into custody after abandoning her baby. The woman pushed the child’s stroller onto Columbia Circle Stations platform, and then returned to the train. The 10 month old baby was found abandoned on the Manhattan subway station when authorites where called. Frankena was found near Central Park. When questioned she claimed she could no longer care for the child and felt that she left her in a safe environment. Frankena is facing charges of child abandonment and acting in a manner injurious to a child.

The baby was examined at Roosevlelt Hospital and no signs of injury or trauma werer found. The little girl is now in the care of Child’s Services.

Child Abandonment (Neglect) in Arizona:
According to A.R.S. § 13-3619 it is unlawful for any individual who is in custody of a minor under the age of sixteen to permit the child’s life to be endangered, injured, or welfare to be imperil. Should they subject the child to these condition by neglect, abuse or immoral associations, is guilty of a class 1 misdemeanor.
