Employee benefits are any type of compensation other than wages.  While employers are required by law to provide some benefits to employees, most benefits are created by employer policy or an employment contract.  Some examples of employee benefits include insurance, stock options, sick leave and vacation.  Generally speaking a thorough description of employment benefits can be found in an employment contract or employee handbook.
