The number one rule for job application is to be honest. Some applications will go into detail about how far back they want you to report criminal activity. Some also give you permission to answer no to a question if the crime has been set aside or expunged.
Tell the truth and then put your best foot forward and show how that mistake is in the past and not something the employer will have to be worried about in the future. For a DUI, the employer would like to see that you successfully completed probation, graduated from substance abuse counseling, and are confident about putting that mistake behind you.
