14,000 Injected with Fungal Meningitis Contamined Steroids

The New England Compounding Center in Massachusetts is facing numerous lawsuits after distributing steroid injections that were contaminated with fungal meningitis. Nearly 14,000 people were injected with the contaminated product, but so far only 280 people have filed lawsuits against the company. Attorneys representing the victims in this case expect the number of lawsuits to reach somewhere in the thousands. A total of 28 victims have died from the contaminated steroid injection that was distributed across 16 states. Woman Dies after Surgeon Leaves an 18″x18″ Sponge in her Abdomen

Geraldine Nicholson went into surgery to have cancerous tissue removed from her colon. Dr. Arleen Thom performed the surgery on the 55-year-old woman, but made a fatal mistake during surgery. Thom closed Nicholson up before removing an 18-inch by 18-inch sponge from her abdomen. The sponge inside Nicholson caused infections and prevented her from receiving the proper treatment she needed for her cancer. Harold Hagins walked into a dentist office complaining of a toothache. Dentist William Moody took a look in Hagins mouth and determined his wisdom teeth needed to come out. Hospital Causes Permanent Brain Damage during Surgery

Matt McCann went to the hospital to have a herniated disk repaired and walked out with nerve damage and brain damage. San Diego Chargers Head Doctor Found Liable for Medical Negligence

David Chao, the San Diego Chargers head doctor may have his medical license revoked or suspended due to medical negligence. The California state medical board cites evidence from three negligence cases from 2007 and 2012. Two weeks ago, Chao was found liable in lawsuit from a negligence case that took place in 2003. A San Diego jury awarded $7.5 million to the patient, who suffered from a knee injury during surgery. HCA Investigates Physicians For Conducting Unnecessary Heart Procedures
