Legal Separation

Legal Separation involves all of the same issues that the process for dissolution of marriage involves, including child custody, visitation, child support, spousal maintenance, and division of property and debts. A significant distinction between legal separation and divorce is that in a legal separation, the parties still remain married. This means that all of the legal rights and relationships resulting from marriage are not necessarily ended, as with a divorce.
