How Social Media Can Impact Your Divorce

Have you ever heard the saying, “What you say can and will be used against you in a court of law?” This goes for anything you post on Facebook, Twitter, blogs, or any other social media site. Arizona courts are now accepting social media posts as tangible evidence in civil and criminal cases.

If you are in the middle of a divorce or fighting for custody of your children in Arizona and have pictures of you or posts about you doing something you shouldn’t be, it can be submitted to court as evidence where it will be used against you.

The best advice anyone can give you, is to never post anything on Facebook or Twitter that could potentially be used against you in a divorce case, or any other type of case. On the other hand, if you see that your ex-spouse has posted something on Facebook that can be used against him or her in a divorce or custody case, bring it in to your Arizona divorce attorney so it can be submitted to the court.

If you’re thinking about getting a divorce in Arizona, or trying to fight for custody of a child, contact an experienced Arizona family law attorney. You can reach Arizona divorce lawyer, Timothy Durkin at (480) 779-7972.
