“You must be honest with the bankruptcy court.” People often get the bad advice to put money in a friend’s account or save some money in a cookie jar so that they won’t lose it in the bankruptcy. This logic is absurd. The consequence of lying to the bankruptcy court is that you not only lose the money you were trying to hide, but you end up having to pay more money and could possibly go to prison.
