You may have heard that the cost of filing bankruptcy is increasing, effective November 1, 2011.  This is true.  The Judicial Conference of the United States has elected to increase court filing fees for Chapters 7, 11, and 13.  The increase will be as follows:
Chapter Current Court Filing Fee New Court Filing Fee

(as of 11/1/11)
7 $299.00 $306.00
11 $1,039.00 $1,046.00
13 $274.00 $281.00
While it may be general practice among other law firms to pass these increased costs along to the client, at JacksonWhite we have elected to absorb some of the miscellaneous costs associated with filing bankruptcy. We hope to keep the total money coming out of your pocket as minimal as possible.
