If you filed for bankruptcy in 2010 you were not alone.  In numbers released today, there were 1,530,078 bankruptcy cases filed in the United States in 2010, a 9 percent increase over 2009.  20% of the filings were chapter 13 bankruptcy cases.

Here in Arizona, we continue to see a high number of bankruptcy filings - in fact, the Phoenix metro area hit an all time record for bankruptcy filings in 2010.  In my experience the bankruptcy filings in Arizona continue at a steady pace due to loss of jobs and people who are trying to save their home or those who have decided to walk away from their home because the amount of debt against it is more than the value.

If you are in a position where you can no longer pay your credit card bills, have large amounts of medical debt, or simply cannot pay your mortgage payment as it comes due any more, give me a call at (480) 648-8975. I’m a bankruptcy attorney in Mesa AZ and would be happy to discuss your specific situation and determine if bankruptcy is a good option for you.
